Dr. Jay Adams is a West Virginia native, originally hailing from Fairmont. He pursued pre-veterinary education at Davis & Elkins College where he began his journey in veterinary medicine at Appalachian Animal Hospital as a volunteer, shadowing our staff in 2011. Eventually, he was offered a position as a Kennel Attendant and worked his way up to Veterinary Assistant. Upon his graduation from D&E, he was accepted into the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine, from which he is a 2018 graduate.
Dr. Adams is passionate about veterinary medicine, surgery, and the human-animal bond. His favorite part of the veterinary field is interactions with clients, and seeing the same passion in them that he has in caring for animals.
A proud West Virginian, he resides in Elkins and enjoys taking motorcycle trips on West Virginia back roads, exploring State Parks, going off the beaten path, visiting areas often forgotten, and going to hole-in-the-wall mom and pop type restaurants. An avid skier, he enjoys outdoor activities; running, biking, swimming, and training for endurance events.
